Success Stories
Robbie J.
Robbie J. whose family has a proud history in the Air Force, served in the U.S. Army before receiving a medical discharge. In 1999, he moved to Fort Walton Beach from Orlando after the loss of his mother. Facing continued health issues, Robbie ultimately lost his leg due to infection. This challenging period led him into depression, and he found himself struggling with alcoholism.
In May 2024, Robbie decided it was time for a change. He reached out to One Hopeful Place (OHP), seeking help to turn his life around. According to Robbie, his experience at OHP was nothing short of life-saving, and he’s forever grateful. With the help of Liz and Donna, Robbie learned how to budget, secure housing, and navigate the process of obtaining disability and veteran benefits. He attributes his recovery and newfound strength to the grace of God and divine intervention.
Thanks to physical therapy, Robbie is now looking forward to regaining mobility and even dreams of playing ball again someday. Everyone at OHP is cheering Robbie on as he embarks on this next chapter of his life.
