Shelter Peer Specialist

Nunu Jones

Nunu is a shelter peer specialist at One Hopeful Place, where he joined the team six months ago and is currently in the process of earning his peer support certification. A native of the area, Nunu brings both lived experience and professional insight to his work, shaped by his upbringing in a community where homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use were prevalent. His background includes previous work at Stone Soup, an intuitive spiritual center, where he gained experience supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and belief systems.

Through his work at One Hopeful Place, Nunu has developed a deeper understanding of the direct connection between mental health, substance use, and homelessness–insight that fuels his passion for helping individuals rehabilitate and reintegrate into society. Deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve, Nunu is committed to continued learning, personal growth, and respect. He is excited to keep growing in his role and to continue supporting others on their journeys toward stability and self-empowerment.

Shelter Peer Specialist

Crystal Stover

Crystal Stover is the Peer Support Specialist at One Hopeful Place, having joined our team less than a year ago. She brings with her a wealth of experience, including many years in the retail industry where she worked with individuals from all walks of life. For the past seven years, Crystal has worked in environments centered around supporting people battling substance use issues. This background has proven invaluable, allowing her to effectively assess and assist those she encounters with empathy, understanding, and insight.

In addition to her professional experience, Crystal has grown personally over the years—learning how to set goals and achieve them, even when the path hasn’t always been easy. As a teenager, she participated in mission trips to support the homeless, and the passion she discovered during those early experiences has only deepened with time.

Crystal has also gained a profound understanding of how substance abuse, mental health challenges, and suicide impact not only the individual in crisis but everyone around them. Because of this, she is deeply committed to ongoing learning and personal development, always seeking out new training opportunities to better serve and support those who rely on her care.
