Shaquille
Shaquille was born in Fort Walton but later moved to El Paso, Texas. After serving in the Air Force for four years, where he was stationed in Washington, D.C., and worked in the medical field, he later transitioned into IT and worked at the Pentagon.
However, personal challenges led him to lose everything, and in 2022, Shaquille moved back to Fort Walton to reconnect with his family and rebuild his life. Through acquaintances, he heard about One Hopeful Place (OHP), where he sought help and guidance.
Shaquille arrived at OHP in June 2024, and he expressed how much more positive the experience was than he had expected. With the support of OHP, Shaquille secured stable housing and found a job at a local restaurant, where he quickly advanced to the position of Team Leader. He shared that Donna and Liz at OHP always reminded him, “We can help you when you are willing to help yourself.”
On September 4, 2024, Shaquille moved into his new home. He’s now saving for a car and planning to return to his IT career within the next year. Shaquille is also looking forward to taking long walks on the beach and embracing this peaceful new chapter in his life.
